Calathea Freddie

Calathea Freddie (Goeppertia concinna) is a popular tropical houseplant famous for its silver-green foliage and dark green stripes. However, like most prayer plants, it is notoriously sensitive to environmental changes. Leaf curling and dry, brown crispy edges are common signs of physiological stress rather than a fungal disease. Beginners usually notice the tips and margins of the leaves turning dry, brown, and paper-like. In severe cases, entire leaves curl inward tightly into tubes, giving the plant a wilted appearance even if the soil feels damp. In Indian households, this issue is heavily triggered by dry air from air conditioners and hard municipal tap water containing high levels of salts and chlorine. To keep your Calathea Freddie thriving, misting alone is rarely enough; focus on increasing ambient humidity, protecting it from cold AC vents, and using filtered or RO water.
